Halloween Arrives September 8th!

Wylde Ivy's Limited Halloween Collection is arriving September 8th!  Several returning favorites are joined by all new as well as reimagined favorites from the past!  I am doing my best to get the fall "Retired Fragrances" ready again for special order soon.

New Shipping Rules for Perfumes
Due to the USPS rules for shipments containing alcohol, all orders containing any alcohol based perfume (as well as samples) are required to ship via surface transportation and be labeled as a hazardous shipment.  Normally even with Ground Advantage and First Class mail, packages fly at some point in their journey to cut down on time in transit.  Since all alcohol containing shipments are now ineligible to fly any leg of their journey, times in transit may be noticeably longer.  This is also effecting the tracking as the packages are spending multiple days on a truck moving from one hub to another.  It is not uncommon for the tracking updates to stall for several days.  This does not mean the package is not moving, but rather is is on a truck moving slowly to the next hub.

Oil based perfumes and samples may still ship via all mail classes, including priority.  These shipments will most likely arrive faster than the shipments containing alcohol.  If you are in a time crunch, this may be a better option for you.  I am unable to upgrade shipping on orders for alcohol based perfumes.

Delayed In Transit Shipments
In other news, shipping with USPS has been difficult lately.  I’m am seeing many delayed packages (especially involved with the Lancaster and Harrisburg PA hubs which unfortunately many of our outgoing shipments are routed through).  There have been delays of sometimes a week or more as well as packages that are actually on the move and not getting their tracking scans.  This makes me very sad, as I have never seen this level of problems in the 20 years I have been shipping Wylde Ivy products.

I have a feeling that some of the holdups are due to the new labeling requirements for Hazardous Shipments (which all my alcohol containing orders have to be classified as).  The shipments that only contain oil perfume do not need the special labeling and do seem, at this time, to be moving through the system a little bit better.

I am looking into shipping alternatives, though USPS is still the most cost effective for alcohol containing shipments so I have been trying to hold out with them so we don’t have raise prices.

If your package seems stuck in transit, don’t panic.  I have seen all of the packages finally make it to their delivery, even if slowly.  Often times they are moving through the system but not getting scanned until their reach the destination.  If your shipment has not moved in seven business days, I can start a lost mail trace on it.  Often times that gets it unstuck and on its way, at least it has worked thus far.  If after five business days of the lost mail trace there is no movement, I will get a new shipment started for you.

Thank you for hanging in there with us!
